Holiday Place

Holiday Place held their official dedication on Wednesday, April 23, 2003. By that time, the building was fully occupied and support services by Common Ground were in place.

Holiday Place Apartments is located in south Kansas City at the corner of 117th Street and Holiday Drive (6807 E. 117th St). Holiday Place consists of 19 one-bedroom unit apartments and serves mentally disabled clients who are ready for semi-independent living. Each apartment comes complete with central air, lots of storage, a fully equipped kitchen and a built-in dining area.

Support services and special programming are provided by Research Mental Health's Common Ground which is immediately adjacent to the building. John Dean directs these services.

A capital advance from HUD, under the Section 811 program, funded the $1.4 million CHN project. HUD also provides rent subsidies for all tenants. The tenants will only pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross income for rent; the HUD subsidy will pay the balance.
