To provide affordable housing for people with chronic mental illness in the seven county, metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri area. That is CHN's mandate. Never before have CHN's programs and services so directly applied to our mandate. All staffing is directed towards housing-related activities. There are four focus areas:
Rent Subsidy Management: Mainstream Program Rent Subsidy Management: Supported Community Living Rent Subsidy Management: Shelter Plus Care Real Estate Development:
By focusing its limited resources in these areas, a substantial impact has been made. CHN has invested $6 million in apartments and rental properties targeted exclusively for the mentally disabled.
In addition, CHN has leveraged:
- $2,331,000 through the Mainstream Program, managed
- $876,000 with the Supported Community Living and Shelter Plus Care rent subsidy voucher programs.
This makes for a total of $10,207,000 in rent subsidies that CHN has provided for the mentally disabled to date. More opportunities are being developed as resources become available.
